My name is Katherine.  I have been sewing and making craft projects since I was a young child. My grandma taught me basic sewing skills, and I learned even more in the required sewing classes in school. My grandma also taught me how to embroider by hand and together we embroidered many things including towels, pillowcases, bed sheets, curtains, and baby bibs.  If my grandma were still here, she would be amazed by what an embroidery machine could do nowadays. 

As time went on, I learned how to make clothing and other items.  When my daughter started preschool, I made many of her outfits. When other parents found out I handmade my daughter’s clothing, many wanted me to make clothing for their children too.  

In 2004 I saw a quilt that I loved at a craft fair, but at the time it was out of my price range. Even though I never made a quilt before, I looked at the quilt and decided it would be simple enough to make.  I bought fabric and the other supplies I thought were necessary to make a quilt. When I was finished it was the biggest Pinterest fail imaginable. Quilting was something I was determined to become skilled in, so I took quilting classes, read books, and watched numerous Youtube tutorials. Using numerous platforms, I eventually learned how to quilt. I started out quilting with basic squares, and from there I went to nine patch patterns and have continued to advance my skills.  Quilting has become my passion. Due to my experiences with learning how to quilt and my love of quilting, I was inspired to develop Katherine’s Kreationz as a one stop shop for all of your learning how to quilt needs for both the beginner and the experienced quilter.
